About Marc Mekki

Marc is a serial entrepreneur in the luxury travel sphere and now the co-founder of Botsmith, a plug-and- play chatbot system for hotels and venues. At 24, Marc booked a one-way ticket to Hong Kong and then an overnight train to Yangshuo, deep in the heart of the Chinese countryside. After two years of guiding groups across the vastness of China, Marc founded Mandarin Journeys, his first luxury travel venture. Gradually he added new luxury ventures to the portfolio. Marc’s passion for technology led him back to Europe where he co-founded Symphony, a smart city guide and concierge app, and now Botsmith. Marc is public speaker on the subject of luxury travel and travel technology for such brands as Amadeus, the Dorchester Collection, Barcelona Tourism and Connections Luxury by Travel Weekly.

Massively outspending hotels in marketing, the tide continues to shift in favour of OTAs. New privacy laws limit the potency of email marketing, previously a major direct line of communication with consumers. And yet there are new direct marketing and sales funnels, backed up by powerful developments in AI, just waiting to be tapped at a lower cost and with dramatically better results. Welcome to the age of Conversational Commerce.
